| A House and History in the Making
|
| The house was built around the time of the first printing
press, the Wars of Religion between the Catholics and Huguenots (Protestants), and the Reformation. During this period,
England split from the Catholic church. |
| Although the South of France was a Protestant stronghold, St-Bresson is believed to have been built by Catholics, who positioned the town high up in the hills for protection. |
 |
| You can see a black cross burnt into the stone over the front door. This was to alert the Crown's army that Catholics lived in the house. |
