Les Lis, a beautiful house to rent in the Languedoc in the south of France

A House and History in the Making
The house was built around the time of the first printing press, the Wars of Religion between the Catholics and Huguenots (Protestants), and the Reformation. During this period, England split from the Catholic church.
Although the South of France was a Protestant stronghold, St-Bresson is believed to have been built by Catholics, who positioned the town high up in the hills for protection.

You can see a black cross burnt into the stone over the front door. This was to alert the Crown's army that Catholics lived in the house.

The House
Les Lis is a 400 to 500 year old medieval stone house to rent in the South of France that perches on the edge of the small town place in St-Bresson.
Like many houses in the Languedoc area, the exact date of its construction is unknown, as the records were lost during the French Revolution. The Spanish-style red tiled roof is also typical of the southern Gard, the department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region where Les Lis is located.
The locals gather under the enormous plane tree in the place in the evenings to converse and catch up on the day's events.
